It's hard to believe it's been so long since I've worked with watercolor paints - they've been calling my name for ages. But I got swept up in the digital watercolor world and never really returned to traditional painting.
My early pattern designs were created with pen, watercolor paper, and paints. I loved the way they turned out and now, with my digital watercolor style established, I'm eager to revisit and combine it with my original hand-painted techniques.
But where do I even start? I treated myself to this amazing Drawfull drawing diary with some of my Christmas gift money. I have never used a sketchbook before but the designer, Dear Elaine Co suggested starting in the middle of the book if the first page feels too intimidating. So I decided to start with a floral wreath- they're my go-to when I'm stuck for ideas because they're easy to fill in, always turn out balanced, and can hold a positive message right in the center.
I'm excited to share my latest painting with you - keep watching to see the meaningful message I added at the end. I was anxious about starting to paint again, but it feels amazing to have taken the first step.
