SAA : Better Me Group

Wow! I did not expect this response from these stories. I thought maybe 5 to 30 people would join, so I decided to get organized and make this all a bit more manageable. Click here for the official folder where all goals, materials & info will be kept

To sum up what we're doing here for those who may have missed the initial stories, the SAA Better Me group will be all about this:

We are not dieting. I have tried all the diets out there, and none of them are sustainable. What works for me is using an app like MyFitnessPal or Lose It (that's the one I pay for). I love it and have already lost 10 pounds just by tracking my food. The goal is to stay in a calorie deficit—whatever that looks like for you. You can use calculator.net to determine what your daily calories should be. I link my AppleWatch to the app, so my exercise calories get added in, but I do not consume those extra calories (even though it still keeps me at a deficit). That's all I do for food: I eat what I want, when I want, but I have to track it. If I go over, tomorrow is a new day. There are no "bad foods"; you can eat anything you love—just challenge yourself to find healthier versions of it or limit your portion size.

This week, I will focus on increasing my water intake. I am terrible about drinking water, but before we conceived Lily, I was drinking a gallon a day and felt amazing! Imagine that! I have a water jug with the times marked on it, and I will try to share my progress in the group chat to remind you all to DRINK! If you're already good at drinking water—YAY FOR YOU! Seriously, you're amazing. I want to instill in my children the importance of staying hydrated, and that mission starts now. So, our goal for now is to drink 1 gallon a day for 30 days.

Lastly, let's aim for 10,000 steps a day. You can get your steps in however you want—walking circles around your kitchen island is perfect if it means you're moving your body. I have a treadmill, and instead of scrolling TikTok on the couch, I get on the treadmill and walk while doing it. It may seem silly, but it works! Our goal for the next 30 days will be to achieve 10,000+ steps a day. I thought about adding workouts this week, but I don’t want to do too much too soon—that’s when I "fail". I still need to conquer the 10,000 steps and the water intake, so I think that’s enough to start.

That's it! I will check in daily on the SAA: Better Me Group on IG and add some things to our folder, like wallpapers and fun extras. I might even create some T-shirts for the group... Then I will blog again next week for you all to engage in the comments.

I am so glad you're all here. I want to feel better in my own skin, and I am amazed that over 100 of you want to do the same (I know we all do, but I really didn’t think that many would want to join this journey!). I will check in daily on IG and blog again in a week with our next set of weekly goals. We can do this! Comment below if you have any questions or need motivation!

I can’t wait to start this journey with you! I am trying to conceive as well and even though i know people have healthy pregnancies in all sorts of bodies I just feel like I need to put in the extra effort to make sure I’m healthy because right now I am not.

I fell in love with watercolors when my son Elliot was born. That was over 10 years ago & since then I have picked up a paintbrush numerous times which has now morphed into an Apple Pencil. Along with SAA I am a surface designer for other brands as well as our own line of merchandise. This blog is a place for me to share every stroke of my "brush" & let you know what's up & coming
