Room to Grow

Over the past week and a half, things have been buzzing around our home as we’ve started the big task of switching rooms and setting up new spaces. After months of trying to juggle it all in a not-quite-right setup, we’re finally creating a home that supports both our family and this little business.

We’ve carved out a new space for Elliot, Leia got a new bunk bed to give her a bit more privacy from her curious baby sister, and - after eight months - Marc and I have reclaimed our own bedroom. For the first time in a long time, it feels like we’re each getting what we need.

And with that, my studio is finally ready for a complete makeover.

This space has always been the heart of Sweet As April - and now it’s becoming even more. A place to run my business, yes, but also a place where I can homeschool our children, think clearly, and feel inspired again. I’ve started sharing glimpses of the process over on Instagram stories, and it’s made me realize how much I’ve missed showing up and sharing this part of my world.

In many ways, it feels like I’m coming home - not just to a new studio, but to a version of myself I’ve missed. A creative homecoming. A soft, steady return to the things that make me feel most like me.

The past few years have been a rollercoaster. Sales have ebbed and flowed. Our home rhythms have shifted. And managing life with three children who each have their own unique needs in a world that doesn’t always make room for families like ours - it’s a lot. But through it all, Marc and I have stayed united. We’ve always been a team when it comes to raising our kids, and I will never take for granted how much he supports me in this work. His belief in me - whether I’m stitching bonnets, painting florals, or launching a new product - is one of the biggest reasons this business continues to bloom.

I can’t wait to keep sharing more updates as I continue to settle in and redesign the studio. I feel excited again. Hopeful. Grounded.

And because I couldn’t wait one more second - tonight’s sale is already live! It will be shared properly on Instagram and in my newsletter later this evening, but I wanted to let my blog readers get the first peek. You can now save on a collection of beautiful bonnets I’ve just organized and stocked - and I’ll be adding new one-of-a-kind pieces and prints designed by me very soon.

Thank you for being here, through all the seasons and shifts. This business has changed and adapted so many times to meet the needs of our family - but my love for what I do hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s only grown stronger.

With so much gratitude,
Carrie

I fell in love with watercolors when my son Elliot was born. That was over 10 years ago & since then I have picked up a paintbrush numerous times which has now morphed into an Apple Pencil. Along with SAA I am a surface designer for other brands as well as our own line of merchandise. This blog is a place for me to share every stroke of my "brush" & let you know what's up & coming
