If you've been around Sweet As April for a while, you'll probably recognize our best-selling Fleece Pixie bonnets! These cozy little favorites have been part of the shop for years, and I'm so excited to finally share that 13 new fleece prints have been added to the collection!
But getting here took a little longer than I anticipated. Let me tell you the story...
A little trip down memory lane
When my original supplier for the poly fleece I used in these bonnets went out of business, I found myself on the hunt for something new.
Rest in peace, Joann Fabrics. ❤️
I really do miss being able to pop into a store, support my local Joann's, and browse all the latest fleece prints. It was always such a fun outing with Mom. We'd wander the aisles, see what was new, and pick out the prints I knew you would love.
There was something special about that little tradition, and I think I'll always miss it.
For quite some time, I've been searching for an online supplier that could offer the quality I'd come to expect from Joann's. But I also wanted to find a small business to partner with, because supporting other small businesses has always been an important part of how I like to run Sweet As April.
I'm happy to say that I've finally found just that!
What's new about this collection?
I've started with 13 new prints, all available now in our Fleece Pixie collection.
One thing I'm particularly excited about is being able to keep these prints in stock and reorder them as long as they sell well.
If you've followed Sweet As April for any length of time, you'll know that this isn't always possible with the materials I work with. So much of what I create is made from vintage fabrics, upcycled textiles, and other one-of-a-kind finds. Once they're gone, they're often gone for good. Even with Joann's, stock was always changing, so I couldn't guarantee a restock as the seasons changed.
Having a reliable source for these fleece prints gives me a little more flexibility and allows me to offer some of your favorite styles with the possibility of restocking them.
Of course, I'll still be keeping an eye out for those special one-of-a-kind finds, too!
A little something for everyone
If poly fleece isn't your preference, there's no need to miss out on all the coziness.
I also offer organic cotton fleece bonnets featuring my own exclusive designs. These are a wonderful alternative if you prefer natural fibers and love the original prints I've created for Sweet As April.
Both collections have their own special place in the shop, and I'm so happy to be able to offer a little variety.
Growing and changing, while keeping the heart of it all
As I shared in my last blog post, 2024 brought some pretty significant changes to Sweet As April.
I made the decision to shift the way I approached this business, and looking back, I couldn't be happier that I did.
It has given me something I've been craving for a long time: a better balance between the work I love, the life I'm building with my family, and the other creative projects I've been wanting to explore.
It also means I can continue to put energy into the products and collections that I truly enjoy creating, without feeling like I have to do everything all at once.
The Fleece Pixie collection is a perfect example of that. I absolutely love designing these bonnets, and some of my favorite memories are of using them with Lily when she was smaller.
They're incredibly cozy, wonderfully warm, and always seem to catch someone's eye when we're out and about. I love knowing that these little bonnets are keeping other babies just as snug and cozy.
And I'm genuinely proud of the quality that goes into every single one.
