About Bloom by April

Hi, I’m Carrie - the artist behind Bloom by April, and the maker behind Sweet As April.

Before bonnets consumed my whole life, there were years spent in the world of communication design, art history, and local publications - designing for others, learning the language of color and composition, and quietly dreaming of creating something that was completely my own.

Never did I imagine that dream would take the shape of bonnets. Yet somehow, these little baby hats became the one thing I never stopped making. Stitch by stitch, collection by collection, they became my home base - the place where art, motherhood, and meaning intertwined.

But if you’ve been here a while, you know I’ve always had this quiet longing - to weave my own artwork into what I create. Over the past three years, I’ve studied surface pattern design with a passion I can hardly explain. I’ve spent late nights sketching, painting, and digitizing, learning every step it takes to turn art into something tangible - something that lives on fabric, wallpaper, and now, through this space… digital art and courses.

Last year, I took a leap and partnered with a fabric and wallpaper printer, introducing my prints to the world in a whole new way. And that opened a door I’d been waiting to walk through for years.

Bloom by April is the natural next chapter - an extension of my creative heart.
