All About Sizing

Every baby is different but we try to make it easy for you to order the perfect size. If you have any questions you can contact us here

  • What size should I get?

Every baby is different, so I recommend measuring for the perfect fit. For a newborn baby, our smallest bonnet would be anything knit in size newborn or newborn ruffle/eyelet bonnet. Our bonnets tend to run big but fit for a long time in each size range.

  • What about ruffle/eyelet trims or Prairie Brims?

The ruffle/Eyelet brims, because of the way they are made, fit about 1/4" smaller than our regular bonnets. If you're at the top of the size range I recommend you size up. For sun brims you do not need to size up but because the trim doesn't "hug the face" they may seem a bit roomier.

  • How about your knit bonnets?

I based that pattern on our cotton/danish style bonnets so the sizing is pretty similar. But do keep in mind that knit fabrics are stretchy, which means a size range may last even longer because they're meant to fit close to the head.

How to Measure

Bonnet Sizing Guide:

Newborn 11.5" and 10" (this size is meant for a fresh outta the oven baby, the tiniest of tiny bonnets)
0-3 months 13.5" and 12.25"
3-6 months 14" and 12.5"
6-12 months 14.5" and 14

18-24 months 16.5" and 15.25"
2t-4t 18.5 and 16

Measurements:
First measure from jawbone up around the head (above the forehead) and back down to the other side, then the second measurement from one temple to around the back of the head to the other temple.

Newborn 11.5" and 10"
0-3 months 13.5" and 12.25"

Please Remember:

If ordering an eyelet/ruffle trimmed or Prairie Brim bonnet, I recommend sizing up, as they are about 1/4" smaller because of the way they are made

Adventure Hat Sizing Guide

Our bucket hats are sized by head circumference, measured in inches. For the best fit, we always recommend measuring rather than choosing a size based on age alone.

To measure:

Use a soft measuring tape to wrap it around the head, just above the eyebrows and ears, keeping it snug but not tight. If you don't have a soft measuring tape, you can use a ribbon and then measure the length with a ruler.

Approximate Sizing by Circumference

• 14” – Newborn to 3 months

• 15” – 3 to 6 months

• 16” – 6 to 12 months

• 17” – 12 to 18 months

• 18” – 18 months to 3 years

• 19” – 3 to 5 years

• 20” – 5 to 7 years

• 21” – 7 to 10 years / Youth / Small adult

• 22” – Adult small

• 23” – Adult medium

• 24” – Adult large

If you are between sizes or prefer a roomier fit, we recommend sizing up.

Fit Notes

All hats are handmade, so slight variations are normal.

For children, measuring the head ensures the best fit and longer wear.

Care Instructions:

Bonnet & hats must be hand-washed in cold water, hung to dry. Cool iron if needed.
